It is easy to fall in love with Venezuela because of its cheeses. Their soft and fresh textures make them unique.

One of the most popular cheeses in the country is queso de mano, a fresh soft cheese. In the south of the country, specifically in the city of Upata, Bolívar State, in Venezuelan Guayana, a semi-hard version called Queso Guayanés is made; it is similar to queso de mano but has more salt and a stronger flavor. Although the cheese originates from that area, it is now found throughout Venezuela.

Most of the Queso Guayanés production is artisanal. Few cheese industries have dared to produce it. Despite this, it is very easy to find in Venezuela. 

It is a fresh cheese with a semi-hard texture, without rind, made from raw cow's milk, whole or partially skimmed. It has a mild milky and salty flavor. When fresh, it is so delicate that it can almost be spread.

Its shy but firm flavor is impossible to forget. So much so that today there is no restaurant or arepera in the country that does not include Queso Guayanés on its menu. You can get to know a country sitting at the table and tasting the culinary secrets that are the tradition of its people.

It is the perfect complement to arepas, empanadas, and cachapas, in any of their versions and preparations.
